Achieving Success: What Does It Take?

by BluePop13 on June 23, 2010

I wrote months ago about myself achieving success getting my car out of the snow. That was a lot of work and I was damned if I was going to give up. Well, I got it out, thank God!

I was reminded of this success story I wrote and shared with everyone and I feel it was the best blog post I’ve ever written, ever. I bring this up because I personally don’t think I’ve read a greater blog post about success than experience everlasting success.

I read it and it’s fantastic beyond words in my opinion.

Why do I share this with you today?

Recently

For a week or so now I’ve been extremely busy but not in the way you’re probably imagining. I’ve been taking on little things and putting off other things and now I see things a bit differently than before.

I recently started my mailing list after writing up my Killer Content Guide and just started sending out emails and messages to people about writing for this blog whenever they want to on Tuesdays and Thursdays. So far, you can read quite a few Pop Posts I’ve put up and the first one I asked about that I got a response back from was why consider persons with disabilities when making your blog by Tom from Even Grounds.com.

Great article if I do say so myself.

I also got Henri’s book passionate living (affiliate link) and took action by putting it on my blog to support his work which I fully believe in. If you’re new to his writing and you like what you’ve read here at all I feel you’ll love his blog.

Back To Business

I’ve felt lazy for last several weeks and as I said above I’ve been busy but not in the ways you would think. I DID get my first two big projects started which I’m going to be selling on here once completed. I’ll be releasing the first one (no name yet, sorry) in a few months after completion and if you’re on my mailing list you’ll be one of the first people to know about it being released.

After reading Keith’s back to the basics post it really got me thinking about coming up with some ideas for this blog and making it even more helpful to everyone.

I have so much more coming your way that I’m sure a lot of people will truly benefit from. If they don’t it’ll surprise me.

Thanks for the idea there Keith! :)

What success are you looking at for the future and what are you doing about getting there?

I’ve had some strange but good challenges lately.

I have a business plan and keep taking steps on that, but I’ve been approached with interesting opportunities as a result of my blogging. So, I’ve been evaluating these things in terms of the big picture and deciding what to accept, what to decline, etc.

Sometimes the initial urge is to accept anything that looks good, but I’m pretty clear on my overall business purpose/mission and want to stay true to that even if it means passing up something good right now.

Hey Jean,

Thanks for taking the time to comment!

Yeah it’s always a good idea to have a clear look at the bigger picture of where you’re going and where you want to be and not get distracted by little things that might look ok but not benefit your overall goals and plans for the site and business.

What do you think of all these changes lately and have you read passionate living yet?

Eric, the most efficient way to get your car out of the snow is to just wait for the snow to melt in late spring.

You’re welcome…!

Meanwhile I’m working hard on my next product. Thanks for the good tips here.

@John,

Yeah but I didn’t have the time to wait on that one. We were moving so it really wasn’t a choice lol. Though that would be the best way to do it I can imagine. :)

@Alex,

Thanks for your comment “inside the box” lol.

Hi Eric,

Personally, working on having my own business online. So far, wrote my first book “The ultimate guild to achieve your goals.” Now, I’m working on my second ebook. Besides that, working on getting traffic and soon will be doing guest posts starting in August. I think the best thing is plan and then take actions. Thanks for sharing

Sounds good Dia,

Problem is that too many people might plan but then keep planning without action which just doesn’t produce results so they keep planning and are in a terrible place there.

Thanks for the comment! :)

Hey Eric,

Good post and video. I actually checked out the passionate living site and really liked that too. Thanks for posting the link. I like that you’re posting affiliate links to stuff you actually like. I think some people try to be secretive about it because they don’t actually believe in what they’re promoting.

Keep up the good work!

Peace,

Darren,

You make a great point there about posting affiliate links to stuff they really don’t care about. If you don’t care, why should anyone else?

I’ll personally never post something like that on my site just to make a buck or two. If it doesn’t benefit someone else the same it has me, there’s no point in my opinion.

Btw, there’s a post just about your blog you should check out called 7 minutes to your dreams. I’m not sure I saw you leave a comment or anything and just wanted to let you know.

Thanks! :)

It’s more of a personal goal for me, rather than the idea of success. I want to help more people in realizing the importance of providing equal access to everyone, and also to help them in finding out exactly what to do to achieve it. The main things I do to start reaching this goal is to write content for them and organize events for them.

Julius,

I agree with your kindness to want to help as many people as possible by making websites more accessible. It’s important to include as many people as possible because we all have something that stops us from being able to do something so having the help is great in my opinion.

Thanks for the comment! :)

Hey Eric, nice post as it is nice to read that I am not the only one doing ‘fifty puzzles at once’ (see last post for reference)
TO answer your question:
I have been writing my ebook, building niche sites, promoting through article marketing, writing guest posts for TIP, and a gamut of others, I have been doing… TOO MUCH!
Thanks for letting me share that – I feel better now!

At least we both admit it and are keeping busy working to get something done.

Thanks for sharing! :)

Success takes happiness. If you are able to get farther then you did yesterday by doing what you love, you have achieved success.

Therefore, helping one more person today then I did yesterday makes me successful. In my eyes, I am successful already, but trying to expand my success is as simple as saying “Need help? I can give it to you”.

Great post, I’ll be coming back to your website :D

Hey Joe,

I find it a shame more people are actually after success and don’t already see themselves as a success. I’m guilty as charged on that one too though. You would think that looking back at how far you’ve come would be a success because you’re always improving yourself (hopefully) and therefore you should already be a success and striving to just get better with time.

Thanks! :)
