Where Do You Want To Go And Who Should You Listen To?

by BluePop13 on April 16, 2010

I was just over at Hot Blog Tips watching the video Keith posted about having a plan. It made me think about some things that for some reason so many people are doing and yet I wonder if they’re actually making money or just talking the talk. It’s a rather hott issue but I just wanted to see what you all think.

1. Follow The Right Crowd

I have this trouble quite a lot myself and it can even be a scary thought when you know the right people are giving you advice because it’s advice you really should take. But that’s just it. How do you know it’s advice you should be taking?

A lot of bloggers say to blog about what you’re passionate about and the money will follow. However, there does have to actually be some competition for you to make money because what you’re blogging about has to be profitable, right? Yes. So, follow the crowd that says you should blog about what you know and not just about what you’re reading others blog about.

Same in life, do what you know and don’t just follow a crowd who does something and you’re seeing them achieve success at.

2. Do Your Own Thing

You ultimately have to just do something and it comes down to doing it on your own. You can definitely have help from others but you still have to just go after it and do it and make something out of yourself. If you want it just go after it and keep going until you get it. Blogging? We’re all blogging because we’re writing articles like this and talking about whatever we’re talking about. Does it make some people upset? Sure. Does it make other people happy? Sure does. But we’re doing it and even though not everyone is making money we’re still going for it and just doing it. So do that.

What do you do and what crowd do you follow?

Interesting thought! I think it’s definitely wise to follow a crowd who has proven success and knows the ins and outs of what they’re teaching. Sometimes it’s hard to tell.

Thanks for sharing!!

Jarrod,

I’m quickly learning that there’s always a crowd you actually should follow when others you shouldn’t. It’s not hard to tell from my own experience.

Simply put: Who has a life and things YOU want and how did they get it? Take some advice, revise whatever need be and work hard to make that life happen for you. You’re in control of your own life.

Thanks for the comment! :)

You pose some interesting points.BP

I am me. When I am me other people similar to me, find me. Works like magic…..when I am simply being me. Call it the law of attraction, karma, or the universe being itself. I attract people who think similar to myself and we’ve formed a nice group which continues to grow.

When I didn’t use to be me – because I was afraid of being rejected by people who didn’t like the Real Me – I had a tough time finding a crowd. It seemed to change on a daily basis. People sensed my unconfidence or they couldn’t peg me so they stayed away. By thinking and acting according to my heart I follow like-minded people and they follow me.

The irony of it all is that you can attract a crowd most easily when you first go off on your own.

Ryan,

You have the right idea man. Be yourself and lead your own way and soon people will realize that they either want to be around you or not. It’s a lot like blogging actually.

I was unconfident for a long time and I’m learning to be my true self and am realizing that people are either coming into my life or going away from it. Good stuff to know because you have to live for yourself and realize who you want to be in your life are the people who appreciate and respect who you are.

Great comment, thanks! :)

This is a great post as your readers have already said it sparks interest, now for me I don’t follow anyone, that leads to mistakes as well as successes.

I do watch people though, that’s different from following because watching them you learn how they are doing it, but it’s a save delete situation, save what you like, delete what you don’t.

You’re on the right track brother, by the way sending you and the team an email tonight

James,

Thanks for the comment brother!

Yes there’s always some kind of success as long as you figure out from others or just from your own experiences what you want and then go after it and learn as you go.

Looking forward to the email from you. Did you get my bio and pic finally?

:I agree that if you want to do something, you should simply do it, no excuses and procrastinations. Before starting the day, be in the right mindset, have a plan, and focus.

Julius,

Exactly! I personally feel the biggest problem is letting persuasion happen. Listening to everyone and taking their advice which leads to not standing up for yourself and going after what you believe in to be true. Hear those people but then make your own choice, not their choice, and just go for it.

It also comes down to knowing the right people to follow. Don’t just follow anyone. Learn how is a good source and then stand up on your own and hit the nail on the head.

Thanks for your thoughts! :)

i believe you have to do both….follow a crowd ..learn some general things then do your own things..we cant make a difference if we copy and follow others.but there are usually things we must learn .after learning these things from this crowd,we should then do our own thing with it.
love the post.

mk,

Thanks for the comment!

Learning from others and taking that knowledge to do great things we ourselves then create and personalize is what it’s about. We all do the same things every day yet we all do those same things differently because we’re all different.

Thanks for stopping by! :)
