A Tough Move Into New Opportunities

by BluePop13 on March 19, 2010

As my readers know (and for those of you who don’t, now you will) my posts are scheduled in advance and the title of this one is just a bit misleading, but not by much. At the time of this writing the day and date is Wednesday, March 17th 2010. We’ve basically completely moved into our new apartment and my girlfriend is due to give birth any day now. In fact, we thought it was going to happen last night but it didn’t. We’ll see…

Out With The Old…

The apartments we were living in were shitty. There’s just no other way to put it positively because all I could say is we could do better, and now we are. We lived in a rut and I couldn’t wait to get the hell out. It was a mess and filthy and things had only gotten worse as we’d lived there. Some of it our fault and a lot of it not our fault.

We had a lot of stuff to move and I had to let go of some good (back when I’d bought them) piece of furnature that roommates (and friends) had been rough with and destroyed. Yes the furnature is still useable but nowhere near what it was when I’d first bought it.

Last but not least on the old is the fact that somehow, some way, disgustingly enough we had gotten cockroatches at the old place and that is NO place to have new born baby come into the world around. That was the last straw for us. Period!

…In With The New

Aaawww, the new! Wonderful and yet not so much at first. Probably not why you would think though. It was a change and that wasn’t mainly the reason it bothered me just a bit. It was because of the area I wasn’t used to and was a bit fearful (dunno why exactly, stupid eh?) of and yet the apartments are spectacular. The area isn’t bad but I’ve been so sheltered my entire life that I get so used to one way of doing things and then when something changes all hell breaks loose. Well, not now!

This place is nice and I’m getting used to it as a new chapter in my life. The only bad part about the move was the fact that the first night we stayed here I had a real bad stomach ache out of no where and it lasted for just several days. It was bad. No throwing up but it hurt like hell nontheless. I got through it and I believe I actually ended up swetting it out!

Also, we were blessed to have Seth Bass help us a lot with moving. In fact, he went ahead and set up our crib for us and did up our room and made everything just work very well. He even took apart my computer desk and put it back together better than it had been before. He knows how to work hard and is someone dependable who’s going to be there when you need him.

Changes

All of this has been quite a few changes for me and especially since my relationship with the girl I’m with has been one hell of a rocky one, but what relationship isn’t? We’re getting through things one day at a time and I’m not going to be looking for a job as we’re going to be needing money right away and I’ll still put what effort I can into this blog as our baby comes into the world.

I do have every intention of making money with either this blog (somehow) or another blog so that I can be free from having to get up and go to work. I’ve never liked doing that, I’ll be honest. I also am reading CashFlow Quadrant: Rich Dad’s Guide to Financial Freedom by Robert T. Kiyosaki in order to gain some information on investing and becoming financially free instead of having to depend on job security and all that.

What all this has to do with each other? It’s change, that’s what.

A New Life

Finally a new life and new things on the way. I need to now sit down and get organized once and for all. I need to get my life straightened out even more and get out my notebook and start writing down actual goals for my life (have never done that, ever). I need to figure out how much debt I have and pay that off, start saving up for a cushion, reading more books, learn to become the best parent I can be, the best boyfriend (and soon, just maybe, husband) I can be and above all take complete control of my life.

That sounds like one hell of a plan to me.

What does everyone think?

Stomach ache? Go to the hospital? Glad you’re over it though.

Change is always scary at first but it’s something we need to experience in order for us to grow. As for making money, I hear you: There’s only so much of “this” that I can take ;)

Moon,

Yeah it was a horrible stomach ache but went away after a few days. Glad too!

I’m still adjusting to this place (the area around where we live now) and telling myself it’s all for the better, because it is. We’ll see how things go.

Thanks! :)

Patrick,

Thanks! The baby is doing good. Our relationship is growing stronger each day and our apartment is much better than the last one… Thank God!

Everything is going well so far and if I can find a job right now I’ll be doing even better. Makes me want to work even hard to make THIS a full time living.

Thanks for your comment! :)

Yeah it seems like you have a lot of stuff coming up Eric. Has your girlfriend already given birth to the baby?

It seems like you have just gone through a lot of things. I am glad for you that you moved to a different place. Btw. I think if you keep doing what you have been doing then you will be able to make money in no time ;)

Julius,

She had the baby and I’m doing a post on it this week (with pictures :) ).

Everything went well and we’re looking forward to a great new life.

I hope I CAN make money from blogging in the future as it’s what I’m passionate about and will hopefully make enough time to allow things to keep going. I do plan on continuing the blog just not as much as I have been until we can get a regular schedule set up. I do plan on monetising this blog later on as well… We’ll see how things go.

Thanks! :)

Hey brother,

Exciting times dude, it’s essentially the time to remember and cherish.

Being a father and husband brother the only thing you need to remember is they come first and that’s it. A man is defined as such by the way he treats and preotects his family.

James,

I agree. Lots of pictures and lots of fun times ahead.

Cherishing those times now is important for later on and treating our little family wonderfully is what’s important.

Love the comment man! :)

Sounds great Eric. Another chapter is always a good thing. Just remember to keep moving forwards. Congrats in advance for that wonderful baby that is going to be born.

I agree with your ideas of not depending on some job. Through your writing it’s obvious that you really want to have financial freedom. You can do it dude, just keep working hard and approach this next chapter. I am moving into another chapter as well. Summer is approaching and I have a lot of work to do to bring my site to the level I want it to be (I feel it is lacking something). That will be a difficult journey because it is a lot of work, but at the end of the day we’re doing what we’re passionate about right? And to me, that is all that matters.

Alex,

Life gives us chapters and we just need to “read” them in order to keep going. We have to learn to read them.

Good luck with what’s going on this summer and I wish you the best of luck. I’ll still be around myself, obviously, just not as much, at first.

Keep working hard dude! :)

Congratulations on the new move. Having surroundings that support you and energize you is so important. Having surroundings that bring you down and demotivate you (cockroaches – yikes!) affects so much of your mental attitude that you really need to make sure that you are in the right environment for positive mental stability.

It sounds like you have a plan now. Good for you. Knowing what you want out of life and taking positive steps to get you there is a mark of maturity.

Karen,

I still need to sit down and really write out a plan. I’ve never been one to do something like that as I’ve never thought about how I’d want my life to turn out. That’s something I know I have control over if I just sit my butt down and do it!

Anyway, thanks so much for the comment and things are definitely better than before.

Action is important and now you have started, try to keep some momentum. Set a new goal or action to complete and then keep it in mind. Don’t settle. And congratulations.

Hey Paul,

Thanks for your comment there. We do have our new edition to our little family and I couldn’t be happier. It’s very exciting and we love her to death. She’s adorable and our new lives are really something. We’re having lots of fun with her and I will have a post up about things this Wednesday.

Thanks for the comment! :)

Hi Eric,
Congratulations on the new arrival, new flat and getting over the bug in your stomach.

In terms of setting goals, now that you have a new addition to the family, how about writing a letter to yourself 5 years in the future describing your life as you would like it to be. Rather than writing down individual goals it may allow you to visualise a composite picture of what you really want.

Hope that helps and good luck,

Adrian

Hey Adrian,

Thanks! The bug in my stomach is gone and I’m better than ever, thank God considering Erica is here with us now! :)

Writing down what I want my life to look like exactly is a great idea… May even work better than setting goals. I am looking into writing down exactly how I want my life to be so we’ll see what happens. Of course I’ll keep everyone up to speed. I’m slowing down just a bit on this blogging stuff until I can get a routine set up in place for how things are going to go. I know that nothing is ever going to go exactly as planned but close to it is enough.

Also, it may not even seem as though I’m slowing down for how I end up doing things on here so we’ll just see what happens.

Thanks for your comment! :)

“start saving up for a cushion”

What a great idea, I may have to borrow that one.

Becoming a father is about the best thing I ever did and I wish you all the joy and, um, sleep, in the world.

Having some sort of written plan is something I’ve never done either, I’m more of a “right now” person which is, at times, an Achilles heel. So in actual fact you’ve inspired me.

Hey Mo,

Thanks for that one lol. I’m glad I’ve inspired you and am still working out creating a written plan. I’m really not about those but from what I’m learning, it’s great to start one… After all, a plan is better than no plan and most people I know, yet not doing too bad, don’t have a plan.

Thanks for sharing! :)
