We all know that it takes hard, consistent, progressive work and a long period of time in order to make this blogging thing work or make any good money online unless you happen to have something rare and worth a lot of money to throw up on ebay. So why is it that we’re still following the advice of people who say we can get rich quick by tomorrow by reading this document they wrote for us if we know better?
I’m confused.
Our Fault
It’s our fault. We believe in the get rich right now stuff because we simply want to believe that this is finally the answer and that this person knows how it’s done. No they don’t! Who the hell are they to you any way?! Do you know them personally and if so what are you listening to them for if they’re telling you that you can make a thousand dollars by tomorrow? Ok. I’ll believe it if they literally are going to send me a personal check just because they’re that damn stupid with their money just for reading their pdf. Sure, then I’ll believe I can get rich quick.
If not that, quit being so stupid about this stuff!

Main focus is on you and for this blog post I recommend and suggest It’s Called Work For A Reason.
What We Know Works
We all know what works and if you take the s off that word it’s what we all know. Work. That’s what works. And lots of it. Just get out there and figure out how to make what you love doing into money and start doing it. It’s not bad or mean or cruel if you do it right. Want to know how to do it right? Sorry but I’m not exactly qualified to tell you because I’m not yet making any money. Ask David Risley or Yaro Starak or Darren Rowse or James Richmon (he’s going to be making money much sooner than me at his rate).
Just get out there and care about something and do it. That’s what works.
Why We Quit
We quit because we believe what we’re told about getting rich quick because we would love to believe that finally we’ve found the answer. When we once again realise that it is going to take what everyone else tells us about hard work and the long hall, we give up.
That’s our biggest mistake.
The Truth
The truth is never what you really want to hear so I don’t blame you if you don’t like what you’re about to hear.
The truth about this is that WE give the big guys a reason to keep promoting the idea of work hard because we keep buying into the idea of getting rich quick. We get disappointed and once again, the big guys have another job just rewording things so we are once again informed correctly. Do we listen? Maybe. But maybe not and then once again the cycle continues.
There you have it. My opinion of why we give the gurus business is because we buy into what we want to believe and then find out the truth.
What do you believe? What have you done to make it out there so far? What could you do better or haven’t you done yet? What’s something that maybe you’ve fallen for and now know better?
Please share your thoughts.

Harsh but to the point. I know exactly what you mean and that’s what the purpose is behind my blog. It forces me to keep experimenting and working hard(er).

Moon,
You’ve got to keep giving more and never stop. Experimenting is what will get you further as you will learn as you go.
Thanks for the comment!
I think people get too drawn in by the top flight mate, I almost think it’s cool by association type vibe, do you see what I mean?
People buy into these massively highly priced membership schemes in the slight hope that by being linked to it fame and fortune is on its way, when really it could be distracting them from their goals?

James,
You know, if people would use those programs for what they’re really intended and really make use of their time and money, I’m sure there would be more people actually making money online and succeeding at what they set out to with the program. The problem usually always comes down to willingness.
Thanks brother!
Hi Eric,
If I had only known the amount of work involved with Blogging, I probably would not have done it. Not that I don’t love what I do, it’s just that I have a number of computer skills that I want to improve and profit from.
I’m getting whacked, “Blogging My Way To The Bank” while the owners of “RETWEET.com” started less than a year ago just sold their site for $250,000.00. There is nothing on that site that I can’t do ….. the scripting runs me a little crazy, but for that kind of money I could deal with it.
Do I love Blogging? Ya, you bet! I actually understand that I can change the world from this platform! I’ll be here next week, next month, next year! I would however like to make the bills!

Hey Jeffrey,
We’re all looking for something with our blog whether it’s money or something else. The fact that we can do so much from our computers for so many other people is amazing enough so you know you have to also want the money! lol

It is important to be patient these days, especially when it comes to blogging. Blogging is such a saturated market that it is difficult to receive instant gratification from your work. I’m a firm believer that hard work will eventually pay off!

Hey Victor,
Hard work WILL eventually pay off. It’s the eventually part that most people aren’t willing to deal with.
Glad to see you here!
Interesting Insight. I am not sure what to say but I do agree with your statement we need to take out the s of the what works.
I kind of relate to it easily. I have always known what works but never tried to work on one method.
I think what we need is a FOCUS.

If more people had a plan and focused on things I’m sure more would happen for them. It’s failure to plan that causes so many give-ups.
Thanks!
I think we are that way because we like to believe. That’s because we don’t really like to work hard.

We want to have an easy life. A life where we do work but not too much. That’s why we buy stuff from gurus who promise that you will make $100,000 dollars in a month. The only problem is that in order to achieve this you need to take action. And again as I’ve mentioned, we are lazy. I don’t think that everything these gurus teach us is useless. It’s only useless if you don’t take action.
Just my random thoughts
Julius Kuhn-Regnier´s last blog ..The 3 Unwritten Rules of Blogging
Julius,
Well, just your random thoughts are correct here I think. The information can provide useful if action is taken. It’s mainly only NOT useful when nothing is done about it. And the real sad part here is that a lot of people recognise that for their hard earned money it’s still going to take effort on their part. They’ll put in the money and not the effort and then when the results they see aren’t any better they simply blame what they bought. How ridiculous.
Thanks for the comment bro!
You are right brother! People buy something and when it doesn’t work then they simply blame what they bought. But most of them never truly realize that it’s about taking action on their part.

I think everyone has made this mistake. I have read countless books but never really applied what they have said. It’s not worth reading a book if you are not going to take action.
Always love the conversation here

Julius,
I agree and I’ve made the mistake of reading books and not taking action on what I read as well. We all have, you’re right about that. But then, once we know we’ve done that sort of thing and actually decide to take action, maybe rereading the book and taking action and then monitoring the results we get and moving on from there is key to see how successful we can truly become.
Great comment!
I am in no position to offer any advice on the matter but I believe that if someone is making money off telling you how to make money it kind of raises red flags for me. Makes me more cautious if not turns me away.
I understand the spend money to make money concept but there is a lot of crap out there that will get you no where. I like finding the successful people that tend to share that information than sell it.
Great post man!

Ryan,
The thing is, there’s a lot of good people out there selling products that work if you use them wisely and wait for things to just happen with your hard work. You can also find all the info out there for free but money basically saves you time and energy.
Thanks!
We all want to believe in those damn get rich quick schemes. I have looked them over and considered them years ago. Then I did research and realized it’s all BS and it always is. You said it perfectly Eric about taking the S off works and getting work. It’s all about being lazy and wanting to be rich but not taking the real steps do it.

Alex,
Lol we all WANT to be rich. We just don’t all DO what it takes to be rich. We can and it will come our way but we choose not to because it’s too hard or some other likely excuse. We think it’s going to be easy and handed to us. Not at all. Quite the contrary.
Thanks for sharing!

Hi Eric,
Great advice here on stopping to really think of other people’s agenda when they are trying to sell you some get-rich-quick scheme. I think we have a tendency to fool ourselves that we will be different and will be the one which proves the ‘results not typical’.
I’ve only read Larry’s ‘People are Idiots’ book, but I enjoyed his no-nonsense style. I’ll check out the other books you recommend.
You’re right, it does take a lot of hard work, but not everyone wants to do what’s necessary – hence the get-rich-quick schemes don’t go away.

I recommend all his books because I’ve read them all and believe in them. They provide good and useful information with hardcore advice that will shake you up and break you up until you realise how to fix things.
Let me know what you think of his other books if you read them.
Also… You’re absolutely right, everyone wants success but doesn’t want to put in the work it requires and hence the get-rich-quick schemes probably will never go away. What a shame.
Thanks so much for sharing!
You’re right you can’t get rich quickly, you can only get rich slowly if you want sustainable wealth.
Interesting post Eric, thanks for sharing.
