I was just over at Site Sketch 101 reading about how to blog as a newbie which is a guest post from Jen Smith about some things that are important when writing and maintaining a good blog. She hit a lot of good key points and something came to mind while reading what she had to write: passion. Do you have it and how do you know if you do?
Love To Write
I write about what’s going on in my life or at least that’s what I started writing when I first started my blog. I won’t go into detail there… Some of it wasn’t pretty and I’d rather not remember or go back to those times… Extremely hurtful.
I like to write though. I like writing about what I learn and sharing it with other people who are also interested in what I write about. I don’t have a niche and that’s fine with me. I talk about blogging and success and whatever is on my mind at the time. I do know the importance of finding a niche and talking about that in order to really create something great with my blog. Bottom line though, I love to write in general and it’s what keeps me going.
Content Flows In Like Waves
I do have writer’s blog sometimes but life experiences and just feeling calm once in a while and taking things slowly helps content flow in easily. Sometimes I even have so much info flowing into my brain that I feel like I couldn’t type it fast enough let alone write it on paper. Who can honestly type slower than writing things down anyway?
When content keeps flowing in and one of those days just happens to be great where you can think of a bazillion things to write about, figure something out and get those ideas out some how. They’ll help for later on.
There’s Never Enough Time
Even with great ideas coming in sometimes it doesn’t feel like there’s enough time in the day to get all those out and some ideas are then lost. They may return but you won’t know unless you had some way to remember what that idea was that you previously lost. Use your time wisely and try to get everything you can down if it’s important enough. There’s no time like the now.
Money… What’s That?
When you’re passionate about it you just won’t care if you make money or not. Sure it’d be nice to make money with what you love writing and doing but you won’t get burned out and get frustrated as much (or at all) if you truly love what you’re talking about or doing. Money will come when things are ready and for now you just love to write.
Butterflies And Maybe A Dollar
When you write, sometimes you may get butterflies because of how great something you wrote turned out. It’s a wonderful feeling I think every blogger has at some point or another. It’s enough to make you want to make money because you feel you could easily do it for the rest of your life but if you never make money you just don’t mind either.
Forever…?
Things change and you may not be a blogger for the rest of your life. You may never live off your blog or you may be able to by tomorrow, depending on how far along your blog is. Either way, are you crazy enough about your content to do what you’re doing for as long as you can dream and imagine doing this?
What are you passionate about that you could just do and keep learning more about in order to get out there and share your love for your topic with the world?

I agree. I have lots of ideas too but I lose them along the way. If I don’t write them down immediately then I lose them.
And yes everyone has the problem of not having enough time. You always think that you shouldn’t waste too much time doing this and that. But sometimes it’s simply good to waste time. You can’t be productive all the time.
Julius,
As I write this my girlfriend and I are both being productive and cleaning up the apartment because we’re moving out. I have to agree… Sometimes not being productive is good for you. Work isn’t good if that’s all you ever do.
And ideas come out of no where so it’s great to write them down, definitely.
Thanks!
By Pedal you mean the accelerator, right? Nice heading. You need passion for everything.

Agent,
You DO need passion for the things you do and yes I do mean accelerator.
Thanks for the comment!
Personally, I’m passionate about making our readers believe the ideas and concepts we’re trying to convey in our blogs and articles. Nothing beats the feeling of knowing that somehow, through your content, you’ve inspired people to see things differently. So in relation to this, another thing I’m passionate about is improving how I put my thoughts down on paper so that they’ll be more understandable and convincing.

Julius,
It’s good to know people get something out of what you’ve taken the time to write and make understandable. There’s so many different ways of seeing one thing so it’s nice to know each person has a shot at it.
Thanks for the comment!
Hey Eric

Thanks for the shout out.
Great points you have hit on here and I like what you said that we may not blog forever but we need to see what we are passionate about right now.
Jen
Hey Jen,
Thanks for stopping by and you’re welcome.
I agree. Our blogs may not last forever but if we stick to what we’re truly passionate about, things will surely go as they should.
Glad to see you here!
Very true buddy, without passion a blogger can not succeed. Synonym of Blogging should be passion
.
Suhasini,
Hehe, yes. If there’s no passion in your blog, why blog at all?
Thanks for sharing!
I have to say it.. you have a great knack for creating catchy titles, i.e. “If Content Is The Car Then Passion Is The Pedal”. Now that you’ve put it that way, pretty damn true!

Moon,
Thanks so much! I’m glad you think so and come to think of it, looking back at posts I’ve come up with, I do actually. I guess I’d never saw that before.
I really work on making the title do more than stand out but to actually form the article itself and drive someone to figure out how both relate also.
Thanks for the kind words and for your comment!
Eric,
My first visit to your blog and I’m glad I’ve finally arrived. You have a great layout and a great community offering some very positive comments. Well done!
I agree with the things you say and yes, some ideas are lost but perhaps they’re suppose to be lost. Maybe for another time. The money, I’m with you off that, it will come if you’re suppose to be earning moent blogging. What happens, happens! My philosophy
Regards
Paul
Paul,
It’s great to see you here!
Thanks for the kind words. Ideas come and go and if they’re suppose to be used then they will, in time. It isn’t always great when you lose a good idea. But again, if that happens, it should teach you what TO do about it for the next time around.
On the money bit, yes the money will come when the time comes. Without people truly loving what you have to offer because of the hard work you’ve put in, there’s not going to be a need for money.
Thanks for your comment!
Right now? My passion is breathe and living life to the fullest.
Hey Butterfly,
That’s a great passion and way to live life. In fact, what other way is there really?
Thanks for your comment!
All very well said Eric. For me, I have such a huge passion for writing about entrepreneurship. People ask me about getting back and it’s not about that. I will be one day, but I am really enjoying myself. I could write about this stuff forever. I really see the passion you have in writing and I think its awesome my man.

Hey Alex,
When you’re passionate enough about your topic it’s easy to just write and write and write. It’s also wonderful to be able to help people through that and I feel that a blog is a great way of doing so.
