Writing great content is a good way to do it and sometimes it can be a real challenge for a lot of people, myself included. It’s much more than just writing articles, however.

Not made anything on my blog yet but I’m starting to think about it. Reading blogs like this just to get a grounding on how it’s done.

Well, as I’m learning it’s a very long term way of making money and you really have to bust ass to get anywhere. Mainly, helping and solving people’s problems is what I believe will work out best however possible, except scamming people.

That being said, talking with your readers and informing them you’re going to start doing some things in order to bring in some money and seeing what they come back to you with is a good idea, I think. Ask those who make money what they suggest also.

I haven’t done this yet as I’m not planning on making money at this point in time. I will in the future, however.

22 is definitely going to be a tremendous year for me and I’m going to make the most of every day I have at this age. That’s really cool to hear about your daughter’s 5th birthday being yesterday! Happy Birthday to your daughter.

I remember back then and how fun it was and cake and ice cream and all… I miss those days.

On another note. Blogging definitely has many advantages other than personal or business and it is very fun indeed. You can learn so much from blogs so quickly that it can get overwhelming very fast. Just hang in there and do it because you love your readers and have something to share with them that will benefit their daily lives a bit more. Show them you care and learn all you can and don’t be afraid to just in and experiment.

As for the guest posting, my recommendation is if you want to guest post just ask. The worst you’re going to hear is someone say no and quite frankly I know of no blogger who would turn down the opportunity to gladly help someone out. Believe me on this.

I’m very proud of this and I see many more opportunities to do similar guest posts around the web.

Aside from sending birthday greetings I also wanted to thank you for your post. Until 2010 I had no idea that people were trying to make money blogging. I thought the blog was just about letting folks know what you were up to either personally or on a business level. You can imagine the steep (but fun ) learning curve this has been.

As for guest posts and ‘give before you get’, would you recommend being proactive with this? I’d always tend to wait to be offered that honour but do you think we should be offering more?

There are some small ways of making money, yes. Affiliates are one way but even with those you need to have some trusting readers who want what you have to offer. Adsense is the same way and I haven’t heard too much about paid posts.

Videos are a very creative and productive way to interact with your readers as it shows that you’re literally a human being and you are putting fourth more effort in what you do to help them and connect with them. I have some ideas I’m going to research about videos and pod casts and will be writing a blog post about those in the future.

I agree you need to write even if you do video posts because the bots can’t watch videos so I doubt they’ll get listed in the SERPS without a narrative explaining what it’s about complete with the right keywords etc.
